Invertebrates

Today we're going to be learning about invertebrates, and tomorrow we'll be looking at some live ones! Complete the following in your books:
  1. What do all invertebrates have in common?
  2. What groups of invertebrates are there?
  3. Describe three features that the scorpion in this video has to help it survive:
  4. What features help an octopus survive?
  5. What is an indicator species?
  6. What problems can affect freshwater invertebrates?
  7. What is special about Caddisfly larvae?
  8. What class contains both spiders and scorpions? What is similar about them?
  9. What parts of an insect's body can you name from 'building a bug' here?
  10. Try this activity. Why are invertebrates improtant for other animals in an environment?

Habitats and Adaptations

Today we're going to start looking at animals and plants.  Answer the following in your books:
  1. What does habitat mean?
  2. Describe what an adaptation is:
  3. Use this link to find out what a lizard's best habitat is.  
  4. Click 'view' on this page, and build a fish. What adaptations does it have to help it survive on the reef? 
  5. Watch this video, and give three adaptations that the star nosed mole has to help it survive:
  6. Complete this activity, writing down one thing you know about one of the groups.
  7. Create a new animal with bits of different ones! Describe what yours is made from, and the habitat and lifestyle it would be well suited for.
